Iowa Attorney General Files Suit Against Creator Of Drinkable Sunscreen

Iowa Attorney General, Tom Miller, filed a consumer fraud lawsuit in Polk County Tuesday, alleging the makers of “drinkable sunscreen” have failed to prove the product provides protection against cancer-causing ultraviolet (UV) rays as advertised. The lawsuit is being brought against Osmosis LLC and Harmonized Water LLC along with their owner, Benjamin Taylor Johnson, MD, all of Evergreen, Colo. The defendants allegedly proclaimed their UV Neutralizer was the world’s first drinkable sunscreen, but had no valid testing to back their claims. The defendants then later allegedly conducted testing that was seriously flawed and that provided consumers with hollow assurances they were protected from known health hazards. Miller says Johnson and his companies put consumers at considerable risk. “These defendants admit that this product’s only ingredient is water, and we allege they can’t support their highly questionable claims that they can specially treat ordinary water to take on a wide range of health-enhancing properties,” Miller said.
