A 2017 Oscar nominee, Greg Russell, will be a keynote speaker at Celebrate Innovation! Week 8 (ciWeek 8) at the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) West Des Moines campus on Wednesday, March 1. Russell, a sound engineer who was nominated for the movie “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” will be speaking at 11:30 a.m. Russel has worked on more than 200 films in his career and has been nominated for 17 academy awards, including “The Rock,” “Con Air,” “Armageddon,” “Pearl Harbor,” “Spider-Man,” and “Transformers 1, 2 and 3.” Russell will be using a giant HD video wall to demonstrate the science of sound as it relates to movie-making. CiWeek 8 will run from Monday, Feb. 27 through Friday, March 3, and features speakers who have achieved the world’s most difficult climb, piloted the 1972 Apollo 16 mission, flew to the moon, written best-selling novels and screen adaptations, won Olympic gold medals and taken home the World Beatbox Championships.
