The Carroll Education Association (CEA) and Carroll Educational Support Association (CESA) started negotiations with the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) with their initial proposals on Monday, Jan. 23, and will be presenting their proposals to the associations at two special meetings next week. The CEA is proposing to the CCSD Board of Directors adjustments to the salary schedules, a total package increase of 3.47 percent, adjustments to temporary and sick leave, switching to two-year contracts and separating contracts for extra-curricular duties. The CESA is seeking one extra day of leave for staff, from two to three days per year, a 50 cent per hour increase in beginning wages for teacher associates, special education teacher associates, health assistants, educational interpreters and transportation workers and an 80 cents per hour beginning wage increase for route drivers, hourly drivers and field trip drivers. The CESA is also proposing a longevity pay of a 25 cents per hour increase in pay for every five years of service to the district. The board will make their initial proposals to the CEA at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, in the Adams Elementary boardroom and to the CESA at 6 p.m. later that day.
