IKM-Manning Nominated For Grant By Area Farmers

During a break in the action at last Friday night’s IKM-Manning home football game in Manning, Rich Wig of Monsanto presented the district with a $25,000 America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education Grant. School districts are considered for the grants from the nominations made by farmers to the Monsanto Fund. Schools are eligible to receive $10,000 or $25,000 to fund math and science projects that broaden the curriculum and add additional learning opportunities for students. In 2016, the fund will award an estimated $2.3 million through distribution of the America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education Grants across the country. Present to receive the award on behalf of the district were: IKM-Manning Ag Instructor, Ben Booth; members of the IKM-Manning FFA; Superintendent, Dr. Tom Ward; IKM-Manning School Board members; and representatives from the group of 41 farmers who nominated the school district for the award.
