Carroll County Fair Has A Good Thing Growing

The Carroll County Fair in Coon Rapids is a bit early this year, with 4-H judging getting underway Tuesday, July 5, and other attractions opening Thursday, July 7. President of the Carroll County Fair Board, Jim Mohr, says there some newer items added to the annual event to appeal to a wide array of interests.

Mohr said they will also be bringing back the tried and true fan favorites.

They had to cut off entry into the Mutton Busting competition last year, so people will need to get there early to make sure they get in this year. They will be closing out Friday night with the rodeo at 7 p.m. followed by fireworks and Brad Morgan providing some live entertainment at 10 p.m. The Parade, with a theme of “We’ve Got a Good Thing Growing,” will take place at 11 a.m. and Mohr said that theme will be clearly evident to everyone who steps foot onto the fairgrounds this year.

The gate fee is only $5 per person, and with that, fairgoers get face-painting, the kiddie train, the rodeo, Brad Morgan, mud volleyball, figure 8 races, country rock musician Cody Hicks and so much more. A full schedule of events from opening day until the fair closes down on Sunday, July 10 can be found on the Carroll County Fair website at iowaccfair.com.
