Trump’s Immigration Policy Comes Directly From Congressman Steve King

Late last week, Congressman Steve King said Donald Trump has some work to do in unifying the Republican Party before the general election in November. Trump needs to polarize those party members on the fence by getting down to details about his policies and proposed tactics. King also said that Trump has “borrowed” some specific ideas he has been instrumental in developing.

King is hopeful that Trump will also take a strong position against sentencing reform coming out of the Senate and House. The proposed reform would turn 10’s of thousands of criminals loose early to save on prison overhead. King cites a 1995 Rand Corporation study on this subject of the costs of recidivism.

King says 77 percent of those released early will commit another crime, and that is why he is against this so called “jailbreak bill.”

King is sending information to the Trump campaign to help him evaluate the proposed reform and he is hoping Trump will join him in supporting mandatory sentences.
