Dr. Ben Carson made Carroll a stopping point on his GOP Presidential campaign trail Saturday morning, and told a standing-room-only crowd at the Santa Maria Winery that the world has a duality in view towards our country.
He said that America is still the dream for many, but we are seeing a change in our culture. He said our society is getting more coarse, people are not as compassionate or nice as they used to be. At one time, people cared about each other, but they have allowed the purveyors of division and hatred to
Carson highlighted how this political correctness has led to a generational decline in fiscal policies that are crippling the country and widening the fiscal gap. Not only is this impacting our economic safety, he said, but it is working from within to destroy a great nation, and others are paying attention to what is happening here.
Carson’s overall message was one of taking back our country. When we say we are the land of the free and the home of the brave, we must be willing to stand up and fight for our freedoms. He said Thomas Jefferson predicted we would reach the stage where the people would stop demanding the right thing of their government, and because we were not paying attention, the government would do what governments always do, they would grow to expand and dominate the people. Jefferson also said, before that happens, the people of America would recognize it and rise up to take back their government. And now, Carson said, is that time.
