Des Moines, Iowa — Some people go to the Iowa State Fair for the agricultural experience while others are focused on food or the musical entertainment. Iowa Secretary of State, Paul Pate, is working hard to find out what people who attend this year’s fair name their favorites. In the past six days he has allowed fairgoers to vote via iPads at his booth in the Varied Industries Building. To date, he has concluded that the BLT is fairgoers favorite way to eat bacon and they believe the Iowa Hawkeyes will have the best in-state college football season. He also collected over 480 votes on the musical preferences of fairgoers. Country music favorites Carrie Underwood, Alabama and Reba McEntire took the top three spots totaling 55.49 percent of the vote. Faith-based group Casting Crowns followed the country genre with 12.84 percent and the YES & Toto pairing snagged 11.18 percent.
