Vehicle accident near Kiron sends woman to the hospital

Kiron, Iowa -- One person is in the hospital after a two vehicle accident in Sac County yesterday morning. The Sac County Sheriff’s office reports that 70-year-old Gary Gritten of Odebolt was heading south in a semi on Cory Avenue when he allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a car traveling west on Highway 39. The operator of the car was 56-year-old Sandra Davis of Odebolt. Davis was transported to Crawford Memorial Hospital in Denison with major injuries. Charges are pending at this time and authorities say heavy rain may have been a contributing factor.
