Northey seeks reelection agriculture post
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Iowa Agriculture Secretary Bill Northey
has filed petitions and paperwork to seek reelection to a post he
has held since 2007.
Northey said Wednesday he collected nearly three times the
number of signatures needed to appear on the ballot this fall.
Northey is a Spirit Lake farmer who has said he had been
encouraged by several GOP leaders to seek the governorship.
Northey says he loves being secretary of agriculture and is
looking forward to the campaign.
Northey says his priorities are the opportunities in renewable
energy, conservation and telling the story of Iowa agriculture.
