Businesses urged to prepare for possible floods
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Iowa business owners are being urged to
prepare for any potential flooding this season.
The executive director of the Safeguard Iowa Partnership, Jami
Haberl, said Tuesday that taking precautions could help "minimize
danger, reduce property damage and speed the recovery process."
Gov. Chet Culver has proclaimed March as Flood Awareness Month.
The partnership encourages businesses to consider evacuation and
readiness plans as well as personal safety precautions. Haberl also
says flooding predictions are a good time for residents to check if
their tetanus booster shots are up to date.
The group is a voluntary coalition of Iowa business and
government leaders intended to integrate resources during all
phases of disaster management.
