Former Marine named Waterloo police chief
WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - Waterloo has named a 46-year-old former
Marine from Wisconsin as the city's new police chief.
Daniel Trelka currently is police chief in Sturgeon Bay, Wis. He
was appointed to the position by Waterloo Mayor Buck Clark over
four other finalists.
Trelka is expected to take the post on May 3. He replaces
retired Waterloo police chief Tom Jennings.
Clark says Trelka has a strong stance on community-oriented
policing.
