Suspicious briefcase found at Iowa jail
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Normal operations have resumed at the
Polk County jail in Des Moines after some employees and visitors
were evacuated because of suspicious briefcase.
The briefcase was found on Monday.
Sheriff's Deputy Jana Rooker says it belonged to a person who
had been arrested. Jail employees became concerned after examining
it with an X-ray machine.
Rooker says employees and visitors in the immediate area were
evacuated.
A bomb squad determined the briefcase contained a cell phone and
an alarm clock and was not threat.
The evacuation lasted for about two hours.
