Carroll County approves changes to Case Management

Carroll, Iowa -- Carroll County CPC Dawn Mentzer and the Carroll County Supervisors discussed the restructuring of the Case Management Department on Monday.  Mentzer says they still haven’t decided if  they need to hire an 5th case worker and must finalize job descriptions.  Supervisor’s Neil Bock and Dan Nieland expressed support for increasing salaries but didn’t want to go to high until they had time to see how things worked out.

Bock says they should review it again during the next budget process which is less than a year away.  Supervisor Beardmore was concerned about the amount of cases and how it would affect the managers.

After a 30 minute discussion the board agreed on an increase that would raise the two case supervisors to $42,500, increase an employee that had been on staff for over a year to $33,000 and hire a new position at $32,000.  That was approved on a 4-1 vote with Board Chairman Gene Meiners voting no.  Meiners had voiced support for the increase on the staff member being closer to $33,700.
