Date set for vote on casino in Greene County

Jefferson, Iowa -- The Greene County Board of Supervisors has officially set a date for a county-wide vote which, if approved, would allow a new casino and entertainment venue to be built in Greene County. According to Greene County Supervisor, Guy Richardson the board verified 690 of 752 signatures on a petition submitted by Grow Greene County which supports the plan. Only 485 signatures were required.

The special election vote will be held on August 6th with polling sites announced prior to the date. Absentee ballot request forms can be obtained through the Green County Board of Supervisors or through the Grow Greene County campaign organization. If the casino gains approval by residents the potential site would most likely be at the intersection of Highway 30 and Highway 4 in Jefferson.  The Greene County Board of Supervisors approved support for the establishment of a casino during their June 3rd meeting.
