Lake View pocket-park to host Farmer's Market; Pancake breakfast Saturday

Lake View, Iowa -- What was once a vacant lot on Main Street in Lake View is now home to the local Farmer’s Market. The newly renovated pocket-park showcases a paved area with inlayed designs using colored cement. New plantings and benches are also part of the space. This year a newly added etched concrete sign aptly describes it as “Market Square.” The start of the 2013 Farmer’s Market season begins this Saturday, May 25, from 8:00 am to noon. On a typical day six to eight vendors will be at the location on Main Street selling locally grown produce, jams, and other handmade items.

While checking out the local produce people can also fill up on pancakes this Saturday at the American Legion Hall. The Lake View Lions Club and the Historical Museum are sponsoring the event which will run from 8:00 am to noon. Adults can have a stack of hotcakes for $5.00 and kids 5 and under eat for free. There will also be a bake sale and proceeds will be used to support the Pier 25 Playland.
