CHS senior Cassie Evers awarded scholarship

Carroll, Iowa -- Out of 900 scholarship applicants, including 60 outstanding Iowa High school students, local Carroll resident Cassie Evers has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Grand Lodge of Iowa, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. Evers is a senior at Carroll High School and has participated in speech, mock trial, drama, student senate, sports, and music throughout her years at the school.

Assistant Principal, Tammie McKenzie says Evers unselfishly shares her time and talents. She describes Evers as an outstanding student who has been honored for the highest scores in math, science, and reading of all the students in her class and that she is extremely passionate about each and every aspect of her life. Currently Evers plans to attend the University of Northern Iowa and major in Accounting and Finance. Iowa Masons award scholarships each year in recognition of a student’s academic performance, community, activities, leadership, and financial need. In this year alone the Grand Lodge of Iowa has awarded $120,000 in scholarships in recognition of young Iowans’ accomplishments and the promotion of future state leaders.
