Northwestern's Kuhlmann Named NAIA Hoops Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kami Kuhlmann of Northwestern (Iowa) has been named the NAIA National Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Kuhlmann was selected based on her performances from Jan. 23 – Jan. 29 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings. Kuhlmann becomes the second Raider to win the weekly award this season.

Kuhlmann played a key role in Northwestern's victories at then-No. 2 Briar Cliff (Iowa), 89-88, and against then-ranked No. 18 Hastings (Neb.), 80-54. The senior guard, who owns a 29.2 percent 3-point field goal percentage on the season, finished the week shooting 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from beyond the arc en route to a 15.5 points per game average over the Raider's two contests. Additionally, Kuhlmann averaged 5.5 rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal.

The 5-foot-7 native of Charter Oak, Iowa, rates as one of the top passers in the nation, as her 4.5 assist per game average ranks 14th, while ranking 15th with 98 total assists.
