Crawford County Unemployment Rates Continue To Decline

Unemployment rates in Crawford County continue to decline, down from 5.4 percent in April to 4.8 percent in May of this year. According to the latest report for the seven-county Western Iowa Advantage region, Crawford County had reached a high of 6.9 percent earlier this year. Figures released by Iowa Workforce Development for May reflect an overall increase in the region from 3.1 percent at this time last year to 3.3 percent in May of 2016. Sac County recorded the lowest unemployment rate in May at 2.4 percent with Carroll County close behind at 2.5 percent. Adair has a 2.9 percent unemployment rate with the next closest being Guthrie at 3.3, followed closely by Audubon and Greene, both at 3.4 percent. For the state, the numbers reflect an increase from 3.8 percent in 2015 to 3.9 percent in 2016.
