Website Changes In The Works For Lake City

Lake City’s community website could be getting a facelift as the city council begins to explore ways to make the service more user friendly. LakeCityIowa.com is managed jointly by city officials and the Betterment Board. City Administrator, Eric Wood, says the information that is usually found there has become dated due to how difficult it is to make changes.

The city started working with a web services provider from Minneapolis, Minn. called GovOffice to see what options are available. GovOffice specializes in providing cities and governmental agencies websites. He says working with them has been a breeze so far and testimonials from his colleagues are promising.

By making more frequent updates about city business and events hosted by the Betterment Board, he hopes the new website will increase community engagement. The change will be more than just a different look. Wood says it will bring a feature many residents have been requesting.

Once the project gets started, Wood says things should be finished quickly. Tentative plans have the new website operational and available to the public before the end of the fiscal year in June.
