Trial information was filed Wednesday in District Court for Carroll County against a Breda man accused of drug trafficking. Prosecutors are pursuing one count of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a class C felony, and possession with intent to deliver marijuana, a class D felony, against 35-year-old Andrew Vernon Wempe. He was arrested by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, May 15 and booked into the Carroll County jail. He was released after posting a $5,000 bond. Wempe was injured in a shooting in Breda that authorities believe was motivated by narcotics. He and 39-year-old Jacob Helkenn, of Breda, sustained injuries to their lower extremities after 48-year-old Robert Morris, of Carroll, allegedly shot them in the early morning hours of April 12. Wempe is scheduled to appear for an arraignment hearing on Monday, June 11.
