Nebraska Man Accused Of Stealing Products Worth $1,400 From Carroll Walmart Formally Charged

Formal charges have been filed in Carroll County District Court against a Papillion, Neb. man accused of stealing more than $1,000 in products from the Carroll Walmart. Thirty-four-year-old Shawn Michael Jones faces one count of second-degree theft, a class D felony. The charge stems from two incidents in December of last year. On Dec. 22, Jones filled a shopping cart with approximately $1,200 worth of goods and left the store without paying. A week earlier, he attempted to steal from the store by replacing bar codes with tags from less expensive items, paying only $27 for an item valued at nearly $200. If found guilty of the charge, Jones faces up to five years in prison and a maximum of $7,500 in fines. An arraignment hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, May 24.
