A legendary artist, Lita Ford will be rockin’ Greene County Saturday night at Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson. Ford says that people coming to the concert will see one of the greatest bands working in rock ‘n’ roll today.
After spending about six years together, she says they are an extremely tight group. The show will feature a lot of songs from the past, including titles from the Runaways, a group which Ford joined at the tender age of 16.
Ford got her first guitar at 11 and knew then that this may be something she wanted to do with her future. When it really kicked in for her, however, was when she went to her first rock concert. She says that there were no women in the heavy metal genre when she was growing up, so her idols were groups like Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. She has since become a trailblazer for other women in “riff rock,” and says a big part of her success came from a supportive family base. She wants others to know how truly important it is for the parents to support the vision of their children. A lot of Ford’s most famous pieces were recorded in the 80s, but it was not all fun and games, there was a lot of work involved.
Ford has also penned a book, “Living Like a Runaway,” and copies of the memoir will be available at the show. Having never written a book before, Ford wasn’t sure what she was doing and went through five co-authors trying to get her personal story written the right way. They just couldn’t seem to put it together, she says, so she finally rolled up the sleeves over her then broken hand and typed it herself in one summer.
Readers, she claims, can expect to experience things exactly as they happened, she didn’t pull any punches when it came to really putting out the truth of what her life has been like.
