Kuemper Students Looking Forward To Community Involvement In Then Feed Just One Packaging Event

An upcoming biennial event at the Kuemper Catholic School System started several years ago, but Kuemper High School students, senior, Draven Haefs, and junior, Lauren Macke, say they were at the forefront when the Then Feed Just One food packaging event was introduced to the Diocese.

The high school students aren’t the only ones packaging meals. They are joined by staff members and students from kindergarten on up. But more help and more financial support is needed for a successful outcome according to Macke.

Volunteers will be scheduled in 90-minute segments to help out at a station or to help with keeping those stations supplied. Macke says when it comes to monetary donations, they are suggesting giving in $30 increments. This will provide 187 meals at about 16 cents per meal. Haefs puts that into perspective.

The Then Feed Just One packaging event will be held Wednesday, March 28 at the Kuemper Catholic High School gymnasium from 8 a.m. to about 8 p.m., or until they run out of supplies. Organizers are expecting to be able to package and ship more than 200,000 meals to Honduras in that single day of work.
