Farmers Encouraged To Apply For Century And Heritage Farm Programs

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Bill Northey, is encouraging eligible farm owners to apply for the 2018 Century and Heritage Farm Program. Sponsored by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, the program recognizes families that have owned their farm for 100 years in the case of a Century Farm and 150 years for Heritage Farms. These owners are then recognized at the Iowa State Fair, in what Northey calls a celebration of agriculture and the families that care for the land and produce our food. “I hope eligible families will take the time to apply and then come to the State Fair to be recognized,” Northey says. Applications are available through the link to the Department’s website or they can be requested through the contact points included below. Applications must be submitted no later than June 1, 2018.
