Executive Director Of The Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council Leaves For Position With National Science Foundation

The head of the Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council is leaving his position after accepting a one-year role with the National Science Foundation and the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). Executive Director, Jeff Weld, accepted the position Jan. 4 and will serve as senior policy adviser, assistant director for STEM Education at the White House Office of Science and Technology and staff associate in the Directorate for Education and Human Resources at the foundation. Gov. Kim Reynolds spoke highly of Weld’s work, saying, “Jeff is a true champion of STEM, not only in Iowa, but throughout the nation” Cindy Dietz, director of business communication for Rockwell Collins, was appointed to serve as interim director of the STEM Council until Weld’s assignment ends Dec. 10.
