The Employers’ Council of Iowa (ECI) is hosting two special guests later this month to help employers manage their staff effectively. Maggie Hanson, an attorney with Davis Brown Law Firm, and Donna Burkett, bureau chief with Iowa Workforce Development, are offering informational sessions at Santa Maria Winery. Hanson will focus primarily on drug tests in the workplace. She will delve into the specifics of Iowa’s drug testing laws and the dos and don’ts of performing evaluations. Burkett will shift the focus towards trends in the area’s labor market. She will provide information about average wages and benefits offered to employees in western Iowa and what adjustments may be necessary to address both employees’ and employers’ needs. The sessions will be held consecutively from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23. Registration is $20 per person and includes refreshments during the seminars.
