Driver Responsible For Christmas Eve Crash Set For Trial In April

A driver responsible for seriously injuring his passenger during a single vehicle accident in December has been scheduled for trial in April. Fifty-two-year-old Chadwick Charles Sachau, of Denison, will appear in District Court for Carroll County on Tuesday, April 24. He is charged with driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor, stemming from an incident on Dec. 24, 2017. Sachau was traveling northbound on County Road N20, near the intersection with Ivy Avenue, when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a steep driveway embankment. When first responders arrived on scene, they located Sachau lying on the ground outside the vehicle and his passenger, Sherri Moten, was trapped in the front passenger seat in critical condition. Moten was later airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines for treatment of her injuries.
