A simple backing accident lands the driver in jail on narcotics charges. At approximately 7:07 a.m. Monday, a deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office witnessed the accident in the 300 block of East Lincoln Way Street in Jefferson. He contacted the Jefferson Police Department, but could smell the odor of marijuana emanating from the 2005 Ford Taurus. Subsequently, 23-year-old Jacob Lopez of Jefferson was arrested and booked into the Greene County Law Enforcement Center for possession of a controlled substance, first offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
