Denison Man Sentenced To Jail Time For January Assault

A Denison man accused of breaking into an apartment and assaulting a Carroll man has been sentenced to jail time. A Carroll County District Court judge ordered 23-year-old Jose Angel Reyes-Mendoza to serve seven days in the Carroll County jail with credit for time served after being found guilty of assault, a simple misdemeanor. If Reyes-Mendoza successfully serves the seven days, the remainder of his jail time will be suspended for a period of 12 months on the condition he not commit any additional criminal offenses and pay all costs associated with the case. The charge stems from an incident on Jan. 31 in which Reyes-Mendoza kicked in an apartment door at 1849 North Grant Rd. and attacked a resident by repeatedly kicking him. He was later seen carrying two televisions, a bottle of whiskey and a video game console away from the residence.
