Carroll Stadium Completion Date Pushed Back To Mid-August, Board Approves Several New Change Orders

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education approved nearly $56,000 in changes to the new athletic stadium and reviewed the estimated completion date for the project at their meeting Monday night. Work on the $5.7 million dollar stadium began in November of 2017, and, as anticipated, some minor deviations from the original design have been identified. Changes include a $24,000 adjustment to the press box, about $700 in electrical alterations and nearly $15,000 in prep work for the scoreboard. They also approved the purchase of aluminum long jump pit covers for just over $16,000. Superintendent, Rob Cordes, says the hard covers were chosen over mesh primarily due to safety concerns.

He adds the hard covers will also contribute to the stadium’s aesthetics. Progress continues at the Grant Road construction site. Covenant Construction Services, the project’s primary contractor, expects work on the press box, bleachers and drywall to begin within the next three weeks. Cordes says the project is only slightly behind schedule and will now be finished about two weeks later than anticipated.

The Carroll Tigers make their home debut in the new stadium on Aug. 24 against the Glenwood Rams, leaving only nine days between the final day of construction and the start of football season. Kuemper’s first home game is the following Friday, Aug. 31 against the South Central Calhoun Titans.
