The Good Neighbor Award is presented by the Carroll Chamber of Commerce to a resident of Carroll County who has contributed tremendous amounts of their time and energy for the benefit of their community and the region as a whole. Ann Wilson, co-owner and publisher of the Daily Times Herald, introduced this year’s recipient and says his work keeping the people of Coon Rapids knowledgeable on the town’s happenings is key to keeping the community energized.

Coon Rapids has benefited from the winner’s involvement in Kiwanis, Rotary, church activities and much more. Wilson announced the 2017 Good Neighbor Award, saying his positive influence has been felt since he took over publishing duties at the Coon Rapids Enterprise in 1981

Nixon says much has changed since he started his career. Coon Rapids and Carroll were once rivals, but he adds the benefits of cooperation have helped both communities thrive.

Nixon will be live on 1380 KCIM AM radio tomorrow (Tuesday) morning in the 8 a.m. hour to talk about his experiences with the Enterprise and the award.
