Boone Man Shot By Police After Charging At Them With Knife

Authorities say a Boone man was shot and killed after he charged at police officers with a knife. On Saturday, April 21, the Boone Police Department responded to a report of an active domestic abuse situation. The victim told law enforcement that 48-year-old Timothy Wayne Anderson, of Boone, was in the house threatening her and another person. Officers could hear yelling coming from inside the home, and Anderson charged them with a knife when they attempted to enter. Anderson was told to drop the knife, and when he did not comply, multiple officers fired their weapons. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The six individuals involved in the shooting, Captain Lonnie Hikiji, Officer Daniel Lynch, Officer Joseph Slight, Officer Connor McCuen, Officer Cole Hilsabeck and Officer Seth McCrea, were placed on administrative leave per department policy pending the outcome of an investigation by the Boone Police Department and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI). An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny.
