An Ames woman and her passenger were uninjured in a single-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at the junction of Sycamore Avenue and U.S. Highway 30 west of Glidden at approximately 12:34 p.m. Twenty-five-year-old Mengtian Huang was westbound in a 2016 Dodge Caravan. She told authorities that she was attempting to turn north onto Sycamore and then make a u turn back onto Highway 30, but the icy roadway prevented her from being able to make the turn. Her vehicle continued straight, striking the stop sign and then entering the west ditch. There was an estimate $2,500 in damages to the vehicle and $100 in damage to the stop sign.
