UPDATE: Carroll Authorities Called To Garage Fire Wednesday Morning

The Carroll Fire and Police Departments as well as the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Carroll County Emergency Medical Services all responded to the report of a garage fire at approximately 8:21 a.m. this (Wednesday) morning at the corner of 9th and Carroll Streets that came in from a neighbor of the property. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a substantial amount of smoke emanating from the single-story detached double-car garage. The fire was quickly extinguished and crews used ventilation fans to clear the smoke. The most likely cause of the fire is an electrical short near a sub-panel located at the fire’s point of origin in the northeast corner of the garage. The house is owned by Clair Otto and rented by Kinze Bess, who was not home at the time of the fire. No injuries were sustained in the blaze and fire crews remained on the scene for approximately one hour. Damages to the structure and its contents are estimated at $7,000.
