A sit-in at Senator Grassley’s Des Moines office on Friday afternoon resulted in the arrest of two protestors. Executive Director of Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement (ICCI) Action Fund, Hugh Epsey, and Regional Director of the NAACP, Reddit Hudson, were forcibly removed from the office and taken into custody at approximately 4:30 p.m. The sit-in was coordinated to oppose the nomination of Senator Jeff Sessions as Attorney General. Organizers say, that as Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Grassley has been responsible for fast-tracking Sessions’ confirmation process. Over 100 people, including the National President of the NAACP, Cornell Brooks, participated in Friday’s protest.
