A Texas man was killed near Brayton after his vehicle rolled this (Thursday) morning. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 31-year-old Nathaniel Ray Brockeveldt of Elgin, Tex. was traveling southbound on Highway 71 in a 2017 Dodge Challenger. At approximately 6:20 a.m., Brockeveldt’s vehicle left the roadway and rolled several times before striking a tree. The Challenger came to rest on its roof in the north ditch where Brockeveldt was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation into the accident is ongoing. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Audubon County Sheriff’s Office and the Brayton Fire Department.
