Swan Lake’s Biggest Event, The 2017 Earth Day Carnival, Scheduled For Next Weekend

Next Saturday is Earth Day and the Carroll County Conservation Board (CCCB) is continuing their decade long tradition of celebrating with the 10th Annual Earth Day Carnival. The festival lasts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Swan Lake State Park Education Center on April 22 and features a variety of prizes, food and fun. Chad Elliott, a family-friendly musician, will be performing throughout the program. Naturalist, Matt Wetrich, says they will have some wildlife on hand for attendees to experience.

The Earth Day Carnival is CCCB’s largest event throughout the year, and attendance numbers are often over 500. Carnival style games will be available for children to play with 50 game tickets available for $10. The main goals for the day are to host a fun environment for people of all ages to enjoy nature and celebrate Earth Day. Wetrich says while its primary purpose is not fundraising, any money they generate from the event already has a purpose.

An event this size requires a lot of people to make it a reality, and Wetrich is still looking for volunteers to make everything run smoothly.

To volunteer for the Saturday, April 22 event or assist with preparation and cleanup, contact the CCCB by phone at 712-792-4614 or email at the address included below this story.
