Following an investigation by the Storm Lake Police Department, a Storm Lake teenager has been charged as an adult for several counts of sexual assault. According to Assistant Chief of Police, Todd Erskine, 16-year-old Alberto Lechuga was taken into custody yesterday afternoon (Thursday) and charged with six counts of sexual assault in the third degree, a class C felony. The department had received a report on Wednesday morning, Jan. 18, at approximately 9 a.m. and were advised that Lechuga had allegedly been engaging in sexual activity with a 13-year-old female on multiple occasions over a four-month period at his residence in the 500 block of West 9th Street. Lechuga was released to a parent pending a court appearance. The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted with their investigation by the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and the Child Advocacy Center at the Sioux City Mercy Hospital.
