The Storm Lake Police Department is investigating the death of an infant that died this weekend. At approximately 11:53 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, officers were dispatched to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Emergency Room based on a report indicating a two-month-old female child was brought to the ER by her parents, and upon arrival, officers determined the child was deceased. Police executed a search warrant at a Storm Lake residence later that evening in connection with a pending investigation. Currently, the cause of death is unknown, and an autopsy was scheduled for Monday with the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny. The names of the infant and family are being withheld until investigations are complete. The Buena Vista County Medical Examiner’s Office, The Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office and Buena Vista County Attorney’s Office are assisting in the investigation.
