SMCH Adds Medication Disposal Kiosk At McCrary Rost Clinic In Lake City

Opioid abuse is the fastest growing form of substance abuse in the United States and in Iowa. To combat that increase in Calhoun County, Stewart Memorial Community Hospital (SMCH) has installed a medication disposal kiosk in the McCrary Rost Clinic Lake City location. The kiosk is meant to offer a simple, cost-free way for the safe disposal of medications that are no longer needed. Community members can bring unused, expired or unwanted controlled, non-controlled and over-the-counter medications, including pet medications, to the registration area. They can then deposit them through the one-way drop door. The drugs are then securely collected and shipped for incineration. The kiosk is accessible Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
