Search For Missing Teen In Accident Near Denison Called Off Late Last Night. Will Resume This Morning

A search of the Boyer River north of Denison near Deloit for a juvenile female involved in a traffic accident early Thursday morning was called off at approximately 11:15 p.m. last night (Thursday) due to foggy conditions. According to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, that search will resume this morning at daylight. At approximately 3 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, a vehicle with five teenagers inside left a corn field for unknown reasons and entered the Boyer River. Four of the individuals were removed from the water unharmed and transported to Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison for treatment of possible hypothermia. Authorities say the missing female juvenile is believed to have disappeared into the Boyer River. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted in the search by the Iowa State Patrol, The Denison Fire Department, Denison Municipal Utilities and the Carroll County, Denison Fire Department and Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office dive teams. Bob Quandt is providing aerial support in the search as well. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
