Plans Are Coming To A Head For Carroll Brewing Company

Partners of a new Carroll brew pub have “scrapped” their original plan to build the business at the Carroll Auto Salvage lot on Highway 30 east. Director of sales and marketing for Boone Valley Brewing Company and CEO of Carroll Brewing Company, Jon Crook, says after some due diligence on razing and rebuilding at that location, the partners have opened their minds to other options.

Crook is not at liberty to discuss any of the three locations yet, but he believes by the end of this month they will have an announcement to make. Any of the options will still allow them to, hopefully, be able to open late this year.

Although there will be a full bar, Carroll Brewing Company will not be serving food. Crook says people will be allowed to bring food in, however, their beer menu will be quite extensive.

The hours and days of operation are still under consideration, with the partners anticipating at the very least five days a week and possibly even six. Serving beer is one side of Carroll Brewing Company, the other side is the packaging and shipping of product throughout west central Iowa, the Midwest and beyond. Crook says an alternative location is going to help with that goal.

Quite a few new Carroll-area investors have already joined in this venture and Crook says there is still room for more. There is a six-unit minimum requirement that he says is equated to the cost of a very inexpensive used car. To date, they have secured enough funding to put this project together. He adds that there are approximately 78 breweries in the state of Iowa and a little over 5,000 in the country, and that is not anywhere near market saturation yet. There is still a tremendous amount of room for newcomers, he says, especially those who are packaging their own product, as those markets are even smaller yet in this “recession proof” industry. Boone Valley Brewing Company distributes their product to 53 counties, are in approximately 79 grocery stores and have about 300 draft accounts. Crook says they are planning on doing this, and then some, with Carroll Brewing Company.
