Kids Can Learn About The Real ‘Winnie The Pooh’ With Rookie Story Time At The Carroll Public Library

Rookie Story Time at the Carroll Public Library this week teaches young readers all about the inspiration for the world’s most famous bear, Winnie the Pooh. Winnie was a real, living bear purchased from a hunter for $20 by Canadian Lieutenant, Harry Coleman, before deploying to England during World War I. The story chronicles the bear’s journey across the globe and through WWI before eventually being donated to the London Zoo. Youth Librarian, Diane Tracey will share the full tale of “Finding Winnie” with kids beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Carroll Public Library on Wednesday, March 1. Rookie Story Time takes place every Wednesday evening at the same time and Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. The WWI theme continues throughout March with the Carroll County Libraries’ “Everybody on the Same Page” program.
