Jefferson PD Responds To Two Separate Incidents, Same Address

Officers with the Jefferson Police Department dealt with two separate incidents involving the same address last night (Tuesday). At approximately 6:19 p.m., officers arrested 28-year-old Michael Jason Godwin on two outstanding warrants. Godwin is charged with tampering with a witness, an aggravated misdemeanor, and fourth-degree theft, a serious misdemeanor. These charges stem from reported stolen computers that were recovered from 303 South Grimmell Road after Godwin had told authorities he did not have them. Godwin had used the stolen computers as leverage to get former roommates to drop criminal charges against him. Less than 15 minutes later, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault. They found Michael Godwin at 303 South Grimmell Road, and he told officers he had been “jumped” by three bearded men who were wearing colors fromthe “Grim Reaper” motorcycle gang. Godwin said he had been pushed to the ground and beaten as he walked down Georgia Street, near his residence. Officers found no marks on Godwin and no evidence in the area the reported assault occurred.
