IKM-Manning Students And Families Bringing Comforts Of Home To Troops Stationed Overseas

The IKM-Manning Student Council is making an effort the next few weeks to collect quality of life items for the men and women in the armed forces stationed overseas. Students and families are tasked with collecting hygiene products like hand sanitizers, tissues and soaps, entertainment pieces like playing cards or any other similar items. Those items can be dropped off in a shopping cart near the high school office by Monday, Nov. 6. In a similar plan, IKM-Manning is participating in the Cookie Crumb project to bring a sweet taste from home to the troops. This effort collects plastic baggies of homemade cookies to freeze and ship to servicemen and women. Unbaked cookie dough can be turned in by students to Mrs. Erb to be baked later in IKM-Manning’s food class. The deadline to donate any cookies or dough is Monday, Nov. 13. Food containing peanuts must be clearly marked before they will be accepted.
