Fort Dodge Police Issue First-Degree Murder Warrant In Sept. 3 Shooting

The Fort Dodge Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) have issued an arrest warrant in the Sept. 3 killing of a Fort Dodge man. A warrant for the charge of first-degree murder has been issued for 27-year-old Levi Gibbs III of Fort Dodge. He has not yet been apprehended and is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who believes they know of his whereabouts is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency. Gibbs is described as a black male, five-foot eight-inches tall, approximately 160 pounds with numerous tattoos. The charges stem from a shooting that occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. on that Sunday in the 900 block of 10th Ave. SW in Fort Dodge. The police department received several calls of a man lying in the street and when they arrived, they found 32-year-old Shane Wessels unresponsive. He later died at the Fort Dodge hospital from the gunshot wound.
