The area has seen the first weather-related accident this year on Wednesday. At approximately 10:18 a.m., the Jefferson Police Department responded to the accident on the overpass in the 700 block of North Elm Street. Nicole Lebeck of Grand Junction was driving a 2002 Ford F150, when she lost control on the 100 percent ice-covered overpass and struck the concrete wall. Luckily, the damages sustained were only reported at $1,000 to the truck and $200 to the barrier wall. The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) was notified of the road conditions and responded to apply sand to that segment of roadway.
