Employers’ Council Of Iowa Offers Seminars On FMLA Requirements

The Employers’ Council of Iowa is hosting an expert from the U.S. Department of Labor later this month to teach businesses the nuances of the Family and Medical Leave ACT (FMLA). On Tuesday, Feb. 28, Melissa Wright will provide two opportunities for owners and managers to learn more about what the law requires qualifying employees to receive. FMLA was signed into law in 1993 and requires employers provide up to 12 weeks of qualifying unpaid leave with no risk of losing their job. The first seminar takes place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Iowa School for the Deaf Leid Complex in Council Bluffs. Later that day, Wright provides another opportunity to learn more on the FMLA from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 150 at the Iowa Western College Campus in Atlantic. Cost to attend is $15 per person and includes refreshments during the presentation. Registration can be made by sending an email to the address included below this story.
