Eighteen Hour Stand-Off Ends Peacefully In Rockwell City

An 18-hour stand-off in Rockwell City ended peacefully early Tuesday afternoon. At approximately 5:39 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, the Rockwell City Police Department responded to 230 North Grant Street on reports of a verbal dispute regarding contact with an ex-girlfriend. Forty-three year old Paul Stanley Goodman, of Rockwell City, left the scene and entered his home next door at 232 North Grant Street. He refused to cooperate with law enforcement and ceased contact with authorities at around 6:30 p.m. According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Goodman did not make any threats or reference to firearms before withdrawing completely. On Tuesday, Feb. 21, at approximately 12:20 p.m., police took Goodman into custody without incident. He was booked into the Sac County Jail on charges of a no contact order violation, a simple misdemeanor, and first degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor, and is being held on a $2,000 bond. Further charges are pending, and no injuries were reported during the incident. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Webster County Regional Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Iowa State Patrol, Webster County Sheriff’s Department, Sac County Sheriff’s Department, Fort Dodge Police Department and Department of Natural Resources all assisted at the scene
